A magical evening from start to finish. The ride in from Santa Monica on Sunset Blvd with light traffic, sweeping curves, rolling hills and beautiful landscaping was amazing. The Maitre d immediately recognized our name on the reservation and that we had requested to have Erick (the waiter from our 2017 visit) and we were seated in a cozy booth. The room was alive with vibrant energy.
As soon as Erick came to our table, we told him we had been to Musso’s two years earlier and we had connected on the Elvis Cols and Joe Pike novels. He remembered us immediately even pointing out the booth we sat in on that visit. We were surprised and elated that he remembered us, but laughed when he said that we were the only people who had ever mentioned the Elvis Cole books to him! We told him we had taken his advice and had read all 22 of the Harry Bosch books, and were back in LA on what we were calling the Harry Bosch Food Tour. He loved the idea and we spoke at length about where we had been so far and where we were going next.
It’s hard to put into words the excitement we felt connecting with this man again, and it was not lost on us that if we had any other waiter on our visit in 2017, we would probably not be at Musso’s, or even in LA this evening.
The meal was almost secondary, however it was amazing. We started with the baby iceberg wedge, and we both had the Filet Mignon for our mains. Brussel sprouts and sautéed mushrooms were shared sides, and we topped of the meal with 2 cappuccinos and sharing a creme brûlée. Drove back to Santa Monica, top down, filled with gratitude we have such a wonderful life.
I am jealous!!!!!!
